Additional Info
Habitat: Open woodlands, cleared forests, dry meadows, creek slopes, and roadside banks
Wildlife Value: Pollinated by insects. Attracts butterfly, bees, birds, and hummingbirds. Dead stems are used by stem-nesting bees. The dried seedheads provide winter food for birds.
Notes: Gardeners are encouraged to cut back dead stems to 12 to 24 inches to provide nesting spaces for bees and allow the stems to remain standing until they disintegrate on their own.
