Pines are good companion plants for rhododendrons and azaleas (plant them at least 6-8 feet away). Leave the needles in place for an attractive natural mulch.

Habitat: deep poorly drained floodplains & old fields to well drained slopes

Wildlife value: It provides winter cover. This plant supports Imperial Moth larvae. This plant also supports Eastern Pine Elfin which have one flight from March-June. Squirrels and birds eat the seeds.
